In the heart of the Po Delta Regional Park, connected by a bridge to the mainland and by a scenic 11 km bank road, the Island extends for 528 hectares covered by Mediterranean scrub with 2 million trees of over 150 different species, including the maritime pine and white poplar, the “Populus Alba” from which the Island gets its name. 100% of the surface, both land and water is under strict environmental protection.
The Island is the natural habitat of fallow deer, pheasants, hares, herons, marsh harriers, Italian knights and egrets that roam freely around the Island.

We safeguard well-being thanks to the Island entrance delimited by a gate and accessible only by those with a special permit which is given only to those who live or are staying on the Island.

30% of the Island is owned by the Marcegaglia family with 300 houses, villas and apartments for holidays and the management of real estate, two hotels and all the commercial and sporting activities. There are more than 2300 private owners who have bought real estate property.
Albarella srl is the tourism division of the Marcegaglia Group, it directly manages the rental of houses, villas and apartments, hotels, the Marina, the activities of the Island’s Centro Sportivo, the bathing establishments and the beach kiosks. The Marcegaglia Group also manages the wonderful resort of Pugnochiuso, on the Gargano in Puglia.
