The Po Delta Park
Albarella Island is located in the heart of the Po Delta Regional Park, between the valleys and lagoons that were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. A genuine and authentic territory, where over 350 species of wild birds have found their home, including the spectacular pink flamingoes, suspended between the river, the sea and the lagoon.
THINGS TO DO IN THE PO DELTA
The Po Delta is the youngest land in Italy, created thanks to the sediment carried incessantly by the River Po which here, branches out into distributaries that flow into the sea creating the characteristic lagoons. It is one of the largest wetlands in Europe. It is a unique ecosystem, to be visited calmly and silently so as to respect the nature and its fauna, made up of hundreds of permanent and migratory bird species. One of the most popular activities in fact, is bird watching, in addition to fishing: an activity with a long tradition that will bring to your dinner table such delights as mussels, clams and the pink Delta oysters.

Discovering the Caleri Lagoon

An exciting boat tour to discover the Caleri Lagoon, one of the richest ecosystems of the Po Delta.
During the excursion, you will be able to observe the characteristic sandbanks, covered with halophytic plants such as glasswort and sea lavender, and numerous species of water birds, including herons, grebes and oystercatchers.
The navigation also allows visitors to discover the ancient water gardens, once used for clam farming, and the traditional "cavane", the characteristic shelters for fishermen's boats. Along the coast of Albarella Island, it is also possible to admire from the lagoon the famous Porto Caleri Botanical Garden, one of the main natural attractions of the Po Delta Park.
The experience takes place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with two available departures: at 15:30 or 17:30. In autumn, until the end of October, the experience is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays with two possible departures: at 10:30 or 15:30.
For guests of Albarella Island, boarding is also available from the sea slipway located near Hotel Capo Nord.
The participation fee is €20.00 for adults and €12.00 for children aged 4 to 12.

1. Sailing through the Water Gardens
A boat excursion to discover the Caleri Lagoon and its characteristic water gardens, where lagoon, sea and sandbanks merge into a unique landscape. During the navigation, it will be possible to observe this precious ecosystem up close and discover one of the area's most representative activities.
The experience takes place every Tuesday and Thursday, departing from Sunset Point, in the Caleri area of Albarella Island. Two departures are available: at 10:45 with return at 12:20 and at 15:45 with return at 17:20. The excursion is confirmed with a minimum of 6 participants.
The participation fee is €25.00 for adults and €15.00 for children aged 4 to 12.
2. The Colours of the Lagoon at Sunset
A fascinating experience between history and nature, accompanied by the sea breeze and a toast with typical local products. At sunset, the lagoon transforms into a unique setting where silence, sunlight reflections on the water and the flight of birds create unforgettable emotions.
The excursion is offered every Tuesday and Thursday, meeting at Sunset Point, in the Caleri area of Albarella Island, at 18:45, with return scheduled for 20:30 (departure time may vary slightly depending on the sunset).
The experience is confirmed with a minimum of 6 participants and the participation fee is €35.00 for adults and €20.00 for children aged 4 to 12.
3. The Scents of the Woods by the Sea
A guided tour along the paths of the Veneto Coastal Botanical Garden in Porto Caleri, discovering dunes, pine forest and lagoon environments. The experience also includes a shuttle service from Albarella to the Botanical Garden and back.
The activity takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Meeting point is at 9:45 at Sunset Point, in the Caleri area of Albarella Island, while the guided tour starts at 10:30. Return is scheduled around 13:00.
The participation fee is €20.00 for adults and €10.00 for children aged 6 to 12.

If you are interested in the vegetation found in the Po Delta you cannot miss this opportunity to visit the Caleri Botanical Garden. Inside the oasis you can walk for over four kilometres surrounded by nature, passing from the pine forest to the fresh water wetlands, from the scrub to the beach and then again from the dunes to brackish waters. A succession of different environments that step by step never cease to amaze, between suspended wooden walkways and small dirt trails.
BIRDWATCHING
