Illuminated on the 60 metre high water tower, the tallest tricolour in Veneto

To overcome the dark periods, both humanity and light are needed. A beacon of hope that Albarella Island wanted to light up, on the evening of Friday 3 April, to pay homage to Italy: The island’s water tower, 60 metres tall, was illuminated – and will remain so until the end of the Covid-19 emergency – green, white, red, becoming the tallest Italian symbol in the whole of the Veneto region.

An initiative born from the desire to send a message of hope and solidarity to the whole territory, something clearly visible, even from afar: a way of making everyone understand that even if we are distant, we Italians are united.

“Since the evening of Friday 3 April Albarella’s water tower has been illuminated with the Italian tricolour and it will continue to light up every evening from 9pm, like a light house on the Po Delta- explains Mauro Rosatti, Albarella Island’s General Manager -. We wanted to turn-on the tower and carry out this initiative as a sign of unity and hope for all of us, to give a signal of comfort to all the people who are suffering at the moment”.

At the same time, Albarella Island is preparing a series of interventions to guarantee safety on the island once the emergency is over: a series of protocols and regulations are being drawn up to be applied thus guaranteeing safety for the operators who will be resuming work dealing with the maintenance of the Island. In addition work is already under way with the internal staff, who are equipped with personal safety devices such as gloves, masks and sanitizer, to carry out the disinfection and ozone treatment of the roads, gardens, beaches and equipment, swimming pools, playgrounds and fitness tracks, to ensure that the opening of the season – when it can take place – is in complete safety and tranquillity.
