ROSOLINA / PORTO VIRO
Following the route between the valley’s of Rosolina and Porto Viro, one can see the grey and purple herons , nycticorax and western marsh harriers and following in the direction of Porto Caleri, a road shadowed by large Holm oaks we arrive at the Venetian, Coastal Botanic Gardens of Porto Caleri. Here we find the sardinian warbler, cirl bunting and the nightjar. This garden shows a different eco system: one can admire areas of Mediterranean maquis , and in the undergrowth find splendid examples of shadowed Orchids, also among the fauna, one can note the presence of the red-eared terrapin.
Following on towards Porto Caleri we find the Via delle Valli where one can see, mainly in spring and summer the common shelduck, pied avocet, black-winged stilts, common redshank, common tern and also the little tern.
This is the best site to see the pink flamingo’s that for the past few years have been flocking to an area situated between the Valle Pozzatini and Valle Sagreda dotted with the typical Polesine huts “ casone” with their characteristic chimneys.
