• Adria

  Adria is the gate to the Lower Polesine Area: it is around 20 km away from the sea it gave its name to. The territory of the municipality of Adria stretches over a wide area in the middle of the province of Rovigo, on the strip of flat land marked by the rivers Po and Adige. The area is crossed by the Canal Bianco, a navigable channel leading directly to the Adriatic Sea and, through pond locks, to the rivers Po and Adige.

• Chioggia

  The town of Chioggia is located around 20 km away from the island of Albarella, in the very southern part of the Venice Lagoon, between the open sea and the lagoon itself. Chioggia is a picturesque seaside ancient fishermans village.

• Rovigo

  Historic provincial capital of the province bearing the same name, used to be an important milestone in the developments of the Polesine region. It is located in the northern- middle part of the so called Medio Polesine, where the small river Adigetto flows. Rovigo is around 60 Km away from the island. The old town presents interesting historical and artistic remains mirroring its past times: you’ll find some Medieval towers of the former castle, the evidence of the Venetian influence in the Accademia dei Concordi and in the Rotonda and the bourgeoisie power embodied by the Social Theatre.

• Comacchio

  Is an old fishermans village in the province of Ferrara. You can reach Comacchio from Albarella in less than one hours drive on the State Road Romea towards the south.
  Comacchio is famous for its channels, its short and multicoloured houses and for its many different boats anchored in its harbour. Eels breeding activities date back to ancient times and the excellent dishes served in town, mirror this local tradition.

• Padua

  Padua is very rich in artistic and architectonic masterpieces thus mirroring the long existing artistic and cultural tradition of the town. It hosts one of the most important masterpieces in Western Art: The Scrovegni Chapel containing a fresco cycle by Giotto. Another sight you can not miss is the most famous of the Paduan churches: The Basilica of S.Antonio, patron of the town. Padua is among the most lively and dynamic cultural and economic towns in the North East of Italy.

It has ancient origins and it can boast a glorious past. It was appointed capital three times: capital of the Western Roman Empire, capital of the Empire under the reign of Teodorico, king of the Goths and the capital of the Byzantine Empire in Europe.

• Ferrara

  In ancient times ruled by the D’Este family, Ferrara has been included in the World Heritage List by Unesco.
  
  You can get to Ferrara in one hours drive from the island. Lots of sights are worth a visit: traces of Italian medieval and Renaissance art along with the natural still untouched sights of its province.
  The medieval castle of San Giorgio dominates the town and at a stones throw from it you can see the Cathedral on the famous square Piazza Trento Trieste, a popular meeting point for the locals.
