What is Environment Certification?
The EMAS II, (01 - 02 - 03) the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, is a voluntary initiative designed to improve companies’ environmental performance in compliance with the Council Regulation761/01.

The environmental certification has an internationally recognised value. The implementation of the EMAS II in the tourist resort Albarella bases upon a mechanism of planning >implementation>control>auditing regarding all those environmental aspects the resort can have an impact on.
In order to register, the tourist resort Albarella has developed a Starting Environmental Analysis consisting of a comprehensive study of environmental performances and impacts with reference to the activities carried out on the island. At the same time, the island’s compliance with the existing applicable rules was checked on. The island ‘s resort decided which Environmental Policy to adopt (thoroughly presented in the included PDF annex), that is to say which environmental aims the island intended to achieve and which action plans were to put in place.

Albarella island’s resort has issued an Environmental Program, which includes a detailed description of the measures taken to meet its aims as for the environment. A System of Environment Management has been introduced (SGA). It is a set of rules to the correct environmental management of the island’s tourist resort. Eventually the tourist resorts audits its environmental performances on a regular base to proof the efficiency of its Environment management system. Once all the above mentioned measures had been taken, the tourist resort Albarella applied for the EMAS II registration, given by the Ecolabel Committee and by the Ecoaudit of the Ministery for Environment.
