Food and wine
Through Food and wine guests can really “taste” the identity and local habits of the Polesine area. In many restaurants located in the Po Delta region excellent freshwater fish dishes and seafood are served. Among the specialities of this area worth being tasted are clams together with an excellent local rice variety, eels, typical fish of this area , fur and feather game.

Inland the delicious dishes typical for the Veneto cuisine are to be found along with freshwater fish dishes, clams and marsh game recipes.

In addition to the well known brodetto, strongly recommended are also: risotto with sea bass sauce, rice in broth served with fish, risotto polesana, stewed dried salted cod, flambé roasted eels, Po sturgeon and caviar (very hard to find these days) . For those guests who are not particularly keen on seafood, here are some other suggestions: noodles with truffle, pumpkin tortelli and pancakes. As main courses you should try coots with beans, beans in potacin, guinea-hen with polenta or the excellent pan biscotto from Porto Tolle. As for the wines produced in the surrounding areas we suggest Merlot, Raboso, white and grey Pinot, Cabernet and Tocai.

Here are some really typical dishes:
SARDINES "IN SAOR" - "BIGUL AL TORC" (home made noodles) - "RICE COL PRETE DE BOSGATO" - "BEANS IN POTACIN" - "BISATO IN TECIA" – LAGOON SHRIMPS WITH POLENTA - "POENTA AND FOWLS"

Proverbs on food and wine:
"El riso nasse ne l'acqua e more nel vin" – A good rice variety should be accompanied by a good wine
"L'ultimo goto se quel che imbriaga" – Moderation is needed when drinking
"Anca i risi resta tacà alla pignata" – It’s impossibile to have everything under control.
