When sitting in a canoe your view over the landscape changes a lot and you can have a closer look at the bends of the Po Delta area which really form a mosaic made up of lagoons, valleys, holms and sandbanks.
The most impressive route is the Po di Maistra branch of the Po river. You can go by boat or by canoe setting off from Cà Tiepolo. Among other things you can see the roosts for cormorants, grey herons and lots of birds of prey such as hawks and harriers.
While sitting in your canoe, by the holms of Contarina, you can spot red herons and the Island of Madonnina. Worth experiencing is also the route starting in Pila. You can have exciting encounters on those waters such as the torciglione surfacing from muddy waters and grunting, darting eels or coypus, startling crosses between mice and beavers. Coypus like digging their holes among the beds of reeds, cradles for many insects and for numeroues nests. In this kind of vegetation, if water is stagnant, fishes surface.
The route to the Basson Lagoon is also very interesting: not to be missed is a short stop in Scano Boa to visit the old lighthouse of Punta Maistra, a light source lighting up the sky and still working perfectly.
