• The Po Delta Nature Reserve

  The Po Delta Nature Reserve was funded in 1997 and it has three main objectives:
  

  • Safeguarding, recovering , optimizing and making the most out of the natural, historical and cultural aspects of the Po Delta territory;
  • Boosting the economic activities of the area as long as they are environmentally friendly;
  • Improving life quality of the locals.
  • 
    

  Environment, economy and society are therefore the three major fields of interest the activities of the Board of the Veneto Park within the Po Delta Nature Reserve are mainly focusing on.

• The Card of Po

  The Card of Po is the consortium of tourist operators of the Po Delta area and of the province of Rovigo. It was funded in 1994 with the aim of promoting the Polesine territory and especially the Veneto Park within the Po Delta Nature Reserve.
  For over 12 years the Card of Po has been involved in promoting the territory in many ways all over the world, by organising tourist work-shops in the area, by taking part in fairs and by issuing information material such as leaflets, maps, DVD etc.

• The flora and fauna

  For those people keen on Bird-watching the Oasis Cà Mello in Porto Tolle is definitely something they can’t miss: around 40 hectares of fascinating wet areas where you can see an untouched ecosystem. For the ornithology fans the park has developed several tracks with lots of look- out posts.

• Food and wine

  Through Food and wine guests can really “taste” the identity and local habits of the Polesine area. In many restaurants located in the Po Delta region excellent freshwater fish dishes and seafood are served. Among the specialities of this area worth being tasted are clams together with an excellent local rice variety, eels, typical fish of this area , fur and feather game.

• Cycle tours

  The cycle tours stretching along the valleys and the lagoons of this area are real paradise for birdwatchers and for environment at fans.

  
  Here is a very picturesque cycle tour: from the State Road Romea, past the bridge over the Adige in Cavanella d'Adige, continue on your left towards Rosolina Mare; before you reach the seaside, turn right and follow the signs to Porto di Caleri. Throughout this track you’ll be cycling within a huge pine wood with lush marsh and maritime vegetation leading to the sand dunes on the beach on one side and the lagoon landscape with the “Valleys” on the other.

  
  A variation to this route is also possible: on the road from Cavanella to Rosolina Mare turn right in Portesine: a narrow path goes into the valleys and reaches another narrow path leading directly to the island of Albarella.

• Excursions by boat

  Water is the dominant element, both visually and conceptually: let’s learn more about it and set off on a discovery trip on the Big River.
  Lots of ferry boat companies are at your disposal to organise tailor made tours, visits and excursions: for groups or one-to-one tourists, with or without naturalistic guides , lunch on board, fishing sessions and lots of other additional services. A very innovative means of transportation are the so called Houseboats. No licence is needed to drive them and you can get into the bends of the Po Delta Nature Reserve in full autonomy and safety.

• Canoe routes

  When sitting in a canoe your view over the landscape changes a lot and you can have a closer look at the bends of the Po Delta area which really form a mosaic made up of lagoons, valleys, holms and sandbanks.
